Save Our Crumbling Hospitals

Nottingham’s hospitals are falling apart: literally.

There’s now a £439 million repairs backlog, and the cost of fixing NHS buildings has shot up again this year.

We can’t keep letting hospitals crumble while politicians kick the problem down the road.

Something needs to be done, which is why the Liberal Democrats have called for a dedicated crumbling hospitals taskforce to tackle the repairs backlog across the NHS estate.The Liberal Democrats want an "invest to save" approach that would drive real capital investment into NHS buildings rather than letting them rot.

Nottingham was promised better but instead, under both Tory and Labour governments, we’ve watched our hospitals fall apart while Westminster looks the other way.

Sadly, when it comes to Nottingham, this isn’t an unusual attitude from Central Government.

This seems to be the way things are no matter whether it’s Labour or the Conservatives in charge. Nottingham gets the scraps while the likes of London and Manchester get the large scale investment.

Whether it’s health or transport, the arts or housing, Nottingham gets a worse deal than other areas. It’s time to demand better for our health and for our city.
