Nottingham Labour's Council Tax Raid

9 Mar 2025

Your Nottingham Council Tax is going up by 4.99% - the maximum the Council is allowed to raise it by.

The City Council’s finances remain a mess and there has been significant criticism of its efficiency by the Government appointed commissioners who are monitoring the Labour Council’s progress.

Last year there was a council motion that looked forward to a future Labour Government, who local councillors believed would increase local government funding.

Instead, we have a Labour Government who have put up National Insurance . The two most expensive services councils run are Adult Social Care and Children’s Services. Both of these use private contractors who pay National Insurance  - raising costs for Council Tax payers as a result.

Despite Labour promising to freeze Council Tax in their 2023 campaign, they have put it up yet again.
