Labour Miss Target As Crime Goes Up Again

When Labour asked Castle Ward residents for their votes in 2023, they promised to cut crime and anti-social behaviour by ten per cent. Three years on, the figures tell a very different story.

A report to Nottingham's Communities and Environment Scrutiny Committee reveals overall city crime has risen 4%, reoffending is at a four-year high, and hate incidents have surged 19% in a single year. Castle Ward remains one of the most crime-affected wards in the city.

Castle Ward Lib Dem campaigner, Lloydie James Lloyd said: "Labour didn't just miss their target, they went completely backwards. Castle Ward residents were promised safer streets. Instead, crime is up, reoffending is at its worst in four years, and Labour have no answers."

The Lib Dems are calling for more regular community patrols and a ward-specific plan to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
