Former Lib Dem Councillor Endorses Liz Morgan-Danvers As Leen Valley By-Election Candidate

Nottingham Liberal Democrats have announced Liz Morgan-Danvers as their candidate for the Leen Valley by-election on Thursday 20th August 2026. 

The by-election has been called due to one of the previous councillors (elected as a Labour councillor in 2023) not turning up for meetings for over six months. This then triggered a by-election for a new councillor.

Former Liberal Democrat councillor, Gary Long has endorsed Liz Morgan-Danvers as the best candidate at this election.

Gary was a well known and hard working councillor for this area for 18 years and knows what it takes to get the job done.

"I've known Liz for many years, and she works hard and gets things done. It's time Leen Valley had someone who really wants to work for the people of the ward again. Labour has taken people for granted. It's time to demand better. It's time to elect Liz"

"I’m incredibly proud to be standing to represent Leen Valley. Gary Long set the standard for what a local councillor should be – hardworking, approachable and always putting residents first. The fact that he believes in me means a great deal. If elected, I’ll work just as hard to make sure local people have a strong voice at the Council and know they have someone who listens and gets things done.”

Voting for a new Leen Valley councillor takes place on Thursday 20th August, with the deadline to register for a postal vote being 5pm on Wednesday 5th August. More details can be found on the Nottingham City Council website, here.
