Nottingham Liberal Democrats

Campaigning across the City of Nottingham

Thank you for your support!

A big thank you to all Lib Dem voters and supporters across Nottingham.

Whilst we may have had a difficult night in the city and across the nation, it is clear there are still significant numbers of people who support our vision for a better Britain.

In Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, in many significant battles between the Labour party and the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats resolutely refused to be squeezed out of the picture. We attracted as many votes as we have in the past.

Nationally, we have won a quarter of the votes, but less than 10% of the seats. The case for electoral reform has never been clearer.

In Nottingham East: despite a strong Conservative challenge we held onto second place and increased our share of the vote again. There was a 2% swing from Labour to Liberal Democrat and Sam Boote won 24% of the vote.

In Nottingham South: a very expensive campaign from the Conservatives has failed to bear fruit - and the Liberal Democrats have maintained our support in the constituency. Tony Sutton came away with a very strong 23% of the vote as nearly 10,000 people voted Liberal Democrat.

In Nottingham North: in one of Labour's safest seats in the country we have maintained a significant percentage as nearly 6,000 people voted for Tim Ball
