Education, not party politics12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 28th Jul 2009 Nottingham Liberal Democrat Group deputy-leader, Tony Sutton, has assured the Council that his party will not play political games with the City's education policies. Speaking after today's Executive Board meeting of the Council, Cllr Sutton said: "When we support important policies like educational reforms, we say it upfront. There's no place for cheap political point-scoring when we're dealing with issues as important as the education of our children." He continued: "I have argued with the Labour Party on many points over the past few years, and I will carry on doing that when the Lib Dems think Labour are doing things wrong. But, if we do agree with them, there's no point in arguing for the sake of it. Doing what's best for the City must come first." Amongst other things, the meeting discussed the creation of a new academy in Nottingham, school expansions, and refurbishments.
